Programme Manager

We’re now looking to expand our team of experts and hence we have a number of career opportunities for highly motivated and technically outstanding candidates, in a range of roles from software, firmware development and testing to technical architecture and Program management.

Successful candidates must be capable of obtaining (or already hold) security clearance to work on UK Government projects.

Responsibilities/Key Tasks

  • All aspects of programme delivery to ensure programmes are delivered on time and to budget.
  • Leadership of technical development team including goal setting, employee monitoring, performance reviews and appraisals.
  • Role model for more junior employees.
  • Ensuring programme planning and monitoring is effective.
  • Ensuring work is undertaken to quality and H&S standards and reflects Stonewood’s environmental policy.
  • Forecasting and control of programme costs.
  • Implementation of programme governance and controls reflecting industry best practice.
  • Maintenance of all control logs to ensure that information is complete, accurate and up to date.
  • Management of risks and issues including development of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Accurate management reporting and providing information to Board of Directors.
  • Responsibility for stakeholder management including: Customer relationship management & Sub-contractor management
  • Production of RFPs/ ITTs iro sub-contract requirements.
  • Negotiation and placement of third party contracts.
  • Support to senior management to assist with the development of future business strategy.
  • In addition, from time to time, you may be asked to undertake other tasks and responsibilities not covered above in order to achieve project or corporate objectives.

Skills/Knowledge/Areas of expertise

  • Experience of managing technical development programmes exceeding £1,000,000
  • Successful track record of programme delivery: on time and to budget
  • Programme/ project management training eg MSP, Prince 2, PMI accreditation
  • Experience of leading teams in excess of 12 including technical and engineering personnel
  • Thorough understanding of IT hardware and software development lifecycle
  • Experience of working on aerospace and defence contracts
  • Familiarity with designing to and implementation of standards relating to airworthiness and IT security
  • Knowledge of documentation requirements relating to systems delivery
  • Good commercial awareness and financial management skills
  • Experience of writing RFP’s and negotiating sub-contractor contracts
  • Motivated, self starter
  • Pro-active and needing minimal supervision
  • Experience of external facing role
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with: MS Office tools, MS Project, Doors
  • Reliable and hardworking
  • Flexible

    Location
    This role is based at our Our Headquarters in Wareham, Dorset.

    Remuneration
    Attractive basic salary is offered  with additional benefits including 25 days holiday, contributory pension and healthcare scheme.
    The hours of work are normally 8am – 4pm Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week with flexibility required in order to complete the requirements of the role).
