Hardware Security

The FlagStone Range of Fully Encrypted Hard Disk Drives provide inbuilt dual factor security without compromising hard drive performance or capacity. The dedicated FlagStone Authentication Technology is supported by AES (FIPS197) 128-bit encryption, providing advanced levels of protection in today’s market place.

FlagStone Technology encrypts data on-the-fly and is transparent to the user.  Normal computer use is not interrupted.  Users are only aware of their chosen FlagStone drive at start-up during the swift authentication process.

The installed FlagStone drive intercepts the boot-up sequence at BIOS presenting a simple password/token request screen with visible count down of authorized attempts remaining.  Once the user has entered their username and password, system boot-up resumes as normal.

The attempts remaining countdown is an additional intruder deterrent, clearly confirming the presence of a FlagStone drive.  The FlagStone drive itself is tamper proof.  Further tamper evident systems are also in place; the unique FlagStone casing was designed to meet FIPS140-2 Level 3 specifications.

Any attempt to tamper with a FlagStone drive will cause superficial damage, which is clearly visible.  In the event of a user observing any alteration of the outward appearance of their computer or FlagStone drive, the dual factor security will remain strong.
